Red Lodge Nordic Center

Rolled

Bob rolled about 8 Km at the Nordic Center this afternoon. It should be good for skate skiing in the mornings. No tracks are set. Lots of snow out there; we're forecast to have more in the next couple of days and temperatures near 30.
The parking lot is difficult (old ruts, mud, water, ice, you name it). Consider parking on the road if it has been plowed.
We will try to roll the West Fork Road this week for the last time (we'll post it here when we do).

Weird Snow

Funny snow, wind blown snow, deep snow, difficult snow, weird snow. It's all true. Our recent storm came in on high winds and made the Nordic Center difficult to groom. Today I rolled about 6 Km. Skating should be OK, but the snow is mostly soft. Classic skiing should be good... no tracks set, though.
Your biggest problem may be parking. Yesterday was warm and the parking lot was very muddy and full of water; Bob pushed some of the mud and snow out of the way to let the melt run off...an improvement, but it will be muddy again when it warms. So, park on the road and enjoy some spring skiing.

Friday the 13th

As reported previously, the Nordic Center was groomed Wed. and there are 10 Km of great track & skate skiing, with temperatures rising to the 30's today.
The West Fork Road was groomed this morning!

Beautiful

Beautiful snow, beautiful grooming and a beautiful day! Bob & Curt rolled and groomed and set track on our new snow. It is soft today (Wed), temperatures peaked at about 17F, and there was sunshine all day. The forecast is for warming and some wind. Enjoy!

Cold Snow

Monday brought us about 6" of cold snow; and it's been around zero since. We have begun rolling that snow and will get the Nordic Center groomed and track set in the next day or two (hard to send groomers out on the snowmobile when it is sooo cold).
We're also planning to groom the West Fork Road as soon as the Nordic Center is done.

Welcome to Daylight Savings Time and the Nordic Center report for Sunday: despite many days of warm and dry weather followed by cold, Grant was able to groom the Nordic Center this morning on about 8 km of great skating trails and 5 or 6 km of good classic ski trails. And it started snowing! Temperature is 29F at 10:00 am.

Warm

We have had warm days and nights all week, so spring skiing and no grooming is the norm. Hopefully things will cool down and snow will fall so we can groom the Nordic Area for the weekend.
