We're getting the epic April snows here in Red Lodge, measuring in feet, not inches. It is making access difficult...county roads to the Nordic Center are not plowed and are drifted (as of Friday night) and nearly impassable. The parking lot is full of snow on top of slush and mud.
The Forest Service road to the Lake Fork is not plowed, and the section of the West Fork from the Silver Run parking to the gate is not plowed. So right now, access to XC skiing is best at Silver Run trails; that parking lot is usually plowed by the FS.
We're sorry to announce that the Nordic Center will not be groomed any more this season. It is too difficult a job with deep snow, wind and warm temperatures (near 30 daytime temps during this storm).
Thanks for your support this season!
